On March 6, sixth grader Charlize Castillo took 3rd place in the Solano County Spelling Bee.
Castillo, who is a student at Solano Middle School, competed against 50 other students from around the county.
According to Castillo, her final word was “prevaricate” and credited Ms. Griffin and Ms. Urias for helping her prepare as they skipped lunch to work with her.
“I was pretty nervous and shaking. I studied by myself and with my teachers who helped prepare me during their lunch break,” explained Castillo who says her favorite subject is language arts.
The event was held at the Joseph A. Nelson Community Center in Suisun City.
